About the Hotels
We've secured four group rates that are very competitive but if you find a cheaper rate elsewhere, go for it!
Most hotels will charge for parking ($25-$35 per day), but the French Quarter is only 1 mile by 1/2 mile so almost everything is within walking distance. So, if you're flying in, we recommend that you skip the rental car and just take a cab (about $30-$40 each way) or a shuttle (about $13 per person each way) from the airport to your hotel.
Try to book your room as early as possible; the hotels will only hold the room blocks through the beginning of April. If anyone finds an alternate hotel or if room types become unavailable, please contact us so we can let others know as well.
No matter where you decide to stay, we recommend it's in or around the French Quarter.
As we are having the reception here, we were able to negotiate a pretty good group rate for the wedding. Rates start at $149 and a two night minimum is required. Although it sounds pricey, rooms here run $300 a night easy. Basically, if you're looking for a little bit of luxury, maybe some marble staircases or waterford crystal chandeliers, this is the hotel to visit. To reserve a room at the group rate, call 800-578-0500 and request a room for the Devlin/Grandt Wedding.
We've stayed at this hotel countless times. For the price, we think its the best deal you'll probably find and its only 1 block off Bourbon street and two blocks from the Omni. We've negotiated a rate of $109 per night with a two night minimum stay (to include Friday and Saturday). Personally, we love the balcony/gallery rooms but the contract says it will run you an additional $15-$30 per night. You might be able to sweet talk the front desk clerk into a free upgrade when you get there though... Book online or call 800-747-3279 and ask for the Devlin / Grandt Wedding group.
The Country Inn & Suites, New Orleans French Quarter Hotel is located just two blocks outside of the French Quarter. We had a chance to stop by this hotel during our last trip down to New Orleans and it is as unique and beautiful as it appears on their website. Renovated in 2004 from seven historic buildings dating back to the 1860's in New Orleans' Warehouse District, the interior features exposed brick and beams from the original buildings and the outdoor courtyard and pool are breath-taking at night. For a little extra walking, you will also be able to save some extra money by staying at this hotel. We've negotiated a rate of $82 per night for a standard room, $92 per night for an executive room, and $102 per night for a one bedroom suite (single or double occupancy for all room types). To make reservations, call 800-456-4000 or 504-324-5400 extension 0 and ask for the Devlin / Grandt Wedding Block rate.
Rooms are $99.00 per night with a minimum two night stay required.
There's another benefit to staying at this hotel: if you're going to have a car the whole time, the Holiday Inn French Quarter has an 8 story lot so you can park yourself without having to worry about tipping the valets. Of course the nightly parking fees are still pretty hefty. (See our section on Getting There; before you decide to drive it.)
